a new SM Hypermarket comes closer to you

The latest of SM Hypermarket branches was formally opened yesterday, May 15.

Right across JRU along Shaw Boulevard, residents of Mandaluyong & San Juan can now enjoy hassle-free, one-stop shop shopping experience. Shopping hours is from 9am -9pm.

It's the first time that SM Hypermarket will be operating outside the SM mall (a stand-alone as we insiders call it). It boasts of a modern wet market with fresh seafoods & meat products. Chicken & pork has the longest line (its a blockbuster!)... Shoppers can be assured that all produce are carefully examined and policed for proper handling & food safety.

A wide array of products and services are in store for everyone - home furnitures, appliances, shoes, apparel, school supplies, hardware & of course groceries. You can also pay your bills, reload you phone & exchange currencies at our Services counter. And if you want to satisfy your hunger after doing all the groceries, there's a foodcourt. At the ground floor there's Japan Home which i had fun checking out because they have cutie items for the home & i also had a haircut (got excited because all services are at 30% off in yesterday's opening). Some stalls are Julie's bakeshop, Ideal Vision & Sure Shot for photo services. There are still other stalls that are about to open like Watsons & Mang Inasal. Kids can also enjoy at Quantum while waiting for mom.

For the opening, there are a lot of BUY 1 Take 1 Offers. I was sooo happy that Thai Rice is Buy 1 Take 1!!!! Magnolia Nutri-oil, Clear, Sunsilk, Colgate, Vaseline lotion are some of the items that i grabbed. I also got attracted with a Digicam 8 megapixel for only P4,999 - but i already have one.. so i'll just reco to my friends. I saw a lot of shoppers leaving with Uratex matress because its 50% Off . Some bought a 32" LCD TV being offered at P19,990. Opening Promotions will run until end of May.

If you happen to prefer doing all chores all in one go, check out SM Hypermarket along Shaw Blvd. There's ample parking for Free!

Who wants to win One Million Pesos?

Did you ever shop & win prizes at SM Hypermarket? when i was still an outsider, i used to shop at SM but i never won any prize, i sometimes wondered if there are really winners in SM's raffle......now that i am an insider (i was hired in 2007 & during that time SHOP & WIN promo was still on-going), i had the privilege of awarding ONE MILLION PESOS to the lucky winner every month. It was fun & exciting...hearing stories from our shoppers about the items they bought that brought them fortune. I have fond memories of a winner who shared with us that he keeps on dreaming about "human manure" everyday for 10 days. (Do you believe in dreams & it's meaning? well, that shopper validated to me that dreaming about your waste brings you money). Im in my happiest moment everytime i handed the "Big Check" to the winner.

SHOP & WIN was SM Hypermarket's promotions since it opened in 2001. It gives shoppers a chance to win One Million Pesos; one winner every month& Shop & Win produced almost 100 millionaires. But for 2009 we're changing direction. We're using a roletta. Instead of giving away one million every month to one winner only, we will still give away the One million but to several winners. we're breaking down the prize so that more shoppers can enjoy the winnings...& since we have plenty of shoppers everyday, prizes will now be small items & will vary from shampoo to a mug or a greenbag but at least everyone will not go home empty handed. When you shop at Hypermarket you get to win a prize. How's that? which do you prefer? Winning a prize everytime you shop? or winning the One Million Pesos?

Kung Hei Fat Choi

January 26 is Chinese New Year. If you happen to visit any of the SM Supermalls these days, the ambiance is all Chinese. Nice red lanterns!!! (red is my favorite color)...even the ambiance music is in Chinese. In MOA, they wrapped a post with chinese horoscope & its very popular. A lot of people pause & read whats in store for them this Year of the Ox .....well everybody seems to be conscious if the Year of the OX will bring us good or bad luck.

At SM Hypermarket, 3 branches (North Edsa, Pasig & Mall of Asia) will mark the celebration with Lion/Dragon dance and to summon more luck & fortune, Chef Bruce of Lee Kum Kee will conduct a cooking demo for a traditional and popular new year dish of the chinese call "YEE SANG". Yee Sang is a celebratory dish eaten during Chinese New Year. Each ingredient of this dish carries its own significance, usually to do with abundance, prosperity, wealth & blessings. There is a beautiful harmony of textures & flavours in this dish - sweet & salty, crunchy & soft, delicate & bold.

Participate in the Yee Sang good luck toss & shout "low hei". (Chef Bruce will explain the significance of the dish during the demo)....Celebration begins January 25, the eve of Chinese New Year at Hypermarket North Edsa (10:45 am), Pasig (2:15pm), MOA (4:15pm).
